Artist statement
Creation is a Divine
gift in all it's forms.
My artwork here is driven by a career of creating art in several forms: Liturgical art,
monuments, portraiture, as well as my inspirations from classical and fantasy art.
Some of the artwork is from past projects, and I use this experience as an impetus
moving forward to explore conveying a story, an event and/or an emotion, then
give it form. Beauty does delve well beyond skin deep, beauty transcends the
physical, it is what can touch the soul and inspire. The human form is made in the
likeness of God, it's the job of the artist to attempt to capture that beauty in all of
it's states; love, sacrifice, struggle, elation, sorrow, exultation, and it's impact upon
the subject. Sometimes it's portrayed as a simple peaceful ponderance or an
emotive outward cry. This is why figurative realism and portraiture can be so
moving. Classical literature of mythos and legend touch upon this, as Sacred
Scripture captures in it's fullness, which is the story of ultimate triumph and is the
catalyst of inspiration for these works.
